Alameda County Transit Authority – ACT
ACT chose the ATEIS Boutique system for their new bus line. Each station has a Boutique system offering 4 separate paging zones, 500W internal amplification, back-up amplification, and full remote monitoring of the system to alert passengers to bus schedules, traffic situations, and emergency messages. The Operating Central Control receives all status updates from the system via the transit systems VLAN and further activates all paging functions from one of 10 touch screen paging stations or the Server software. Each station will automatically alert the OCC to any local faults for speedy dispatch of repair personnel.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Campus
Each building and campus site in and around Boston is equipped with a UL2572 listed IDA8 system for paging, critical announcements, and emergency communications. Each campus ties units in individual buildings together on a fully redundant ring fiber optic network that switches to the opposite direction should an interruption in the line occur. Further, each processor is equipped with up to 8 amplifiers (one per zone) along with two back-up amplifiers. All speaker lines are monitored along with all microphones in the system for complete peace of mind. Faults are immediately reported to the appropriate personnel via fault indication on main units, microphones, and via e-mail. Remote campuses can be monitored and reached via the hospital networks VLAN.

Chicago Highway Department
Chicago Highway Department chose the IDA8 system for its ability to offer a fully monitored system for each service station housing equipment and highway personnel. Consisting of several office areas along with one large equipment repair bay and one large hangar for equipment storage the IDA8 offered the perfect number of available zones (8), full monitoring of speaker lines, and back-up amplification along with a sophisticated set of DSP parameters to maximize the intelligibility of the system in each area, some of which were difficult acoustic environments.

Union Station – Washington D.C.
Completed in 1908, Washington Union Station is one of the country’s first great union railroad terminals. Its’ halls feature very high ceilings and marble and stone surfaces creating a very difficult acoustic environment not helped by a rather high ambient noise level during peak hours. Penton’s MESSENGER DSP steerable line arrays were selected due to their ability to target the audio energy at ear level and not splay over into areas creating echo. 14 large arrays cover all the most challenging areas with a very high intelligibility.

Horseshoe Bend School District, Idaho
Horseshoe Bend School District chose the TERRACOM IP based school system for installation simplicity, amazing sound quality, bell schedule access, and ease of expandability. The TERRA Education system offers several speaker options with built in POE/POE+ amplification, contact closure inputs/outputs, and a wide range of DSP functionality. Two-way communication is achieved by a high sensitivity microphone integrated in each speaker housing and from-classroom communication is initiated by a wall plate with an LED enabled pushbutton. A Graphical User Interface created with all parts of the school represented serves as the communication platform along with bell schedule and pre-recorded messages.

Emirates Twin Towers
On Sheikh Zayed Road is one of Dubai’s most prestigious construction projects ever, the Emirates Twin Towers. Consisting of a 356m high office tower with a gross floor area of 68,000sq.m and an adjacent 306m high 400 room hotel, it is a unique architectural icon of Dubai. With the language of the architecture being intentionally corporate and inspired by traditional Islamic themes, the design concentrates the buildings away from the highway in a central portion of the site.
